New Year’s Day – McMansion

My New Year’s Day walk-about brought me face-to-face with bad design. See some junk here.

took the words right out of my mouth. you failed to mention that the facade of the big garage looks like a formerly spunky happy face that’s had its soul stolen by the development baddies. it’s a lot easier to see than whatever you saw on that Kandoo dispenser. if you want to see some proper american monstrosities, it would behoove you to take a drive down parsippany rd where, of course, they knocked down one small house and built four ginormous ones in its place. then come over for hot chocolate and we’ll get my dog, or maybe Ruby if she’s up to it, to defecate on their driveways since they don’t have lawns.

Designed with distinction this brick front colonial offers a functional floorplan and generous room sizes. New construction w/high-end amenities & the close-in convenience of Arlington. Wide areaway walkout, oversized 2 car garage, & 400 amp electrical service are just some of its well planned features. Walking distance to 3 Metro stops, grocery, library, parks, GMU Law School & Wash-Lee High

    Hey Derya:

You are cracking me up! It looks like you’ve really found info on the house I shot. But how? Please advise.

Hell yeah. They’re building these big ass suburban looking houses here in St. Louis (the city mind you) with big ass garages and huge driveways out front. This is in a city that has an established architectural aesthetic that says that garages belong behind the house with access from the alley. Jackasses is right.
